The Buzz 3/22/2016

Hi Everyone! If you missed yesterday’s meeting…you missed a good one! Juanita Edwards, Vice Governor joined us for the meeting, as did Emerson and Garrison Hamm. We love having guests! *BINGO Report: *Last week there were 92 people in attendance. This week is the McConnell teams turn to share in the FUN! As the weather is warming up and days are longer, people are getting out of the house; please encourage your friends and family to come out and ENJOY a night of Bingo and support our club. *50/50: *$258.00 in the pot. Of course, Vernon’s ticket was drawn, but he drew the Jack of Diamonds. Better luck next week, Vernon!! =) A big THANK YOU to Sherry Morris who filled in at the last minute for our speaker. Sherry is a member of our Kiwanis club and the Director of Fannin County Family Connection. Sherry gave us an update on how things are going at the shelter and food pantry, and also some insight into programs they are working on to benefit children and parents of our community. Sherry reported that last year (ending June 30th) 17,125 people were served at Family Connection. This year they expect the number helped to be over 18,000. Thank you, Sherry for all that you do for our community! *REMINDERS:* *The Governors Rally *is Friday, April 1st at *Blue Ridge Swim and Tennis Club *at 6:00. *Please* plan on attending! The cost is $22.00 per person. Please sign up at the meeting on Monday, be sure to sign up your guest, as well. Dinner will be catered by Mercier’s. Cash bar! The *Kiwanis Fair* is just two weeks away! April 5th thru 9th. Please plan on helping out as often as possible during those five days. The hours are Tuesday thru Friday from 5-11 and Saturday 1-11. Sign up sheets are on the back table at the meeting. Please sign up for the days you’re available. Dinner is brought in around 4:30/5:00 each day and if you’re lucky…you may get to try some of Wilda’s famous desserts! (no pressure Wilda). This is one of our biggest and best fund raisers! The Kiwanis Club of Blue Ridge has partnered again this year with St Luke’s Episcopal Church (next to the Fairgrounds) for the annual *Easter Egg Hunt *this Saturday. They have requested help at 9:30 am to hide the eggs and again at 12:30 pm for when the hunt begins at 1:00 (for crowd control). This is a big event and we need as many Blue Vests out there as possible. If you need one of us to grab your vest at the fairgrounds, please let me know. Have a great week and a Happy Easter! Tammy
